Project: „Support of victims of domestic violence”
Funded by: Bulgarian Fund for Women on Program “Life without violence””
Duration: 6 months (1st November, 2009 – 30th April, 2010 ã.)
Main Goal: Providing of protected environment and effective support to women – victims of domestic violence.
Activities:
- Psychical and social consulting for coping with the psychical trauma of the women, victims of domestic violence;
- Legal advising for applying article 5 from the Law for Protection from Domestic Violence;
- Promotion of the Open Telephone Line for providing of easy accessible consulting aid and information to women, experienced violence who using the telephone line can remain anonymous through printing 250 stickers with information of the open telephone line, the working hours of Center “Maria” and the consulting services which the center offers to the women, victims of violence, printing of 250 business cards of the regional police inspectors from the regional police station in Gorna Oriahovitsa and Lyskovets; programs every month on the cable radio – Gorna Oriahovitsa in the rubric “Minutes for Center “Maria” .
- Training of volunteers for work on the open telephone line ;
- Holding each week of meetings for discussion of the specific cases;
- Internal monitoring of the activities of the project .
- Media campaign in connection with the 16 world days against the violence against women.
Results:
There were registered 40 telephone calls to the Open telephone line for women, who had experienced violence, the consultative office was visited by 37 clients, there were held 42 psychological and 21 legal consultations. Via e-mail were received 9 applications for consultation. There were achieved 9 contacts with institutions such as Directorate for social aid, the department for child protection and regional police station, there were filed 5 cases on the law for protection from domestic violence. There was held 2 days long training of 10 volunteers from supporting professions for work on the Open Telephone Line for victims of violence. On the project were printed 500 business cards with information for Center “Maria” and the regional police inspectors from the police station in Gorna Oriahovitsa. There were made two publications and two radio programs in the local media.
