Project “Support and protection of victims of domestic violence" Funding organization: Мinistry of Justice of the Republic of Bulgaria Main performer: Association “Center Maria”, Gorna Oriahovitsa Territorial scope: District of Veliko Tarnovo Main Goal: Mobilization of resources for coping with the problem “Domestic violence” over women and children Specific objectives: Professional and effective support to the victims of domestic violence; Building of professional capacity in the institutions for working on the cases of domestic violence; Prevention of the domestic violence in the municipality of Gorna Oriahovitsa. Participant in the execution of the project: Women, sufferers from domestic violence; Children, witnesses and victims of domestic violence; Representatives of institutions, bodies according to the Law for child protection (according to article 6 of the Law for Child Protection) and organizations, involved in support and protection of the victims of domestic violence. Specific activities: Activity  1: Program for Protection from Domestic Violence: Open Telephone Line for providing of easy to access opportunity for consulting help and information of women, who had experienced violence and who when using the open telephone line can remain unnamed. Psychological consulting for emotional support and consulting for taking of decisions for coping with the psychic  trauma of women, victims of domestic violence.  . Legal consulting for applying of the Law for Protection from Domestic Violence, preparation of documents for achieving of representation in law suits.    Social consulting and work on cases – processing of documents, cooperation with institutions, forwarding to other offices and services, accommodation in Crisis Center and others.  . Activity 2:  External supervision – each month for support of the team and guarantee of the effectiveness of the services.     Activity 3: Prevention of the domestic violence: Two day long training of volunteers for working on the Open Telephone Line for sufferers from violence.  The participants of the training will be trained for holding of telephone interview, to take and process the incoming information, to make difference between the symptoms of crisis , to forward calls of clients to the sufficient specialist and to report on the team meetings.    Training of specialists from the teams of  the Centre for Public Support and the Centre for Social Rehabilitation and Integration and  organizations, which work with children and families in risk in the district of Veliko Tarnovo. The trainings will be hold by the team of “Center Maria”.  The goal of the trainings is to be created non-formal working network from specialists with skills for coping with  the problem “Domestic Violence”, recognizing of the symptoms of the violence, the signs of the forced connection and the characteristics of the violator . There will be presented good practices of similar organizations and statistics from the national telephone line for children.  Media campaign: The aim of the campaign is to be increased the awareness of the society on the problem “Domestic Violence” and the ways for coping with it, and also to be made popular the services of “Center Maria”  The campaign includes:    -  Publications in local and regional newspapers; - Printing and disseminating of newssheets with up to date information for the services of the Center.  The newssheets will be disseminated by volunteers during the media campaign and handed out to the participants in the work meetings and trainings.  - updating of the website of the organization.  The renewal of the website will include up to date information for the activities, the stage of the performance and the results from the project, the good practices of similar organizations and statistical data The provided in the project activities are mainly directed for mobilization of resources for coping with the problem domestic violence via uniting of the organizational and professional capacity of the Association, the institutions, media and volunteers.  Expected results: Provided access to the services of the Center for the victims of violence – announced telephone connection, e-mail and address of the office on the internet site of the organization and on the newssheets which will be printed; Provided protected environment for the victims of the violence; Provided consulting support and protection of women, who are in real situation of violence; Built organizational, inter institutional capacity for providing of timely and effective protection for the sufferers from domestic violence.  The trainings of the specialists from other offices and organizations aim the creation of non-formal active network of specialists, who work on the problem – domestic violence in the district of Veliko Tarnovo; Aiding the application of the Law for Protection from Domestic Violence in its part – Providing of services to the victims of domestic violence; Acting on local  and district level Program for Prevention from Domestic Violence; Provided professional care for the team of the organization; Increased level of public awareness on the problems of domestic violence – in the media campaign will be included local media, representatives from municipal and state institutions, volunteers and other NGOs.; Improved access to information  for giving the right for informed choice. Project “Applying of the "Coordination mechanism" for Prevention of the Violence over Children in the Districts of Targovishte and Veliko Turnovo" Funding organization: Foundation „OAK” Leading organization: „Association NAIA” Targovishte Partner organization: Center „Maria” Gorna Oriahovitsa Period of execution: 2011 – 2014 Territorial scope: All the 5 municipalities of the district of Targovishte and the 10 municipalities of the district of Veliko Tarnovo  Major goal: The project aims to create conditions for effective application of integrated approach of the work of the institutions and the NGOs for providing of a better protection of the children from violence on the territory of the municipalities in the districts of Targovishte and Veliko Tarnovo.  Specific project goals and expected results: Goal 1: To promote the execution of the Coordination mechanism for protection of children from violence both on local and on regional level. Goal  2: To increase the involvement of the institutions and the other responsible parties for protection of the children from violence and the other forms of abuse with them. Goal 3:To be built capacity in the responsible parties for execution of the Coordination mechanism for protection of children from violence  Goal  4:To evaluate the effectiveness of the coordinated support of children who are victims of violence or abuse ACTIVITIES: Press conference when starting the project Work meetings with the leading staff of the parties of Coordination Mechanism Development of printed materials - brochures Holding of lobbystic campaign Providing of social services for children, victims of violence, by “Association NAIA” and “Center Maria” Team meetings with the extended teams on coordination mechanism which directly work with children  supervision of the extended teams on Coordination Mechanism in the both districts Holding of preventive activities with students in schools in the both districts Analysis of the rights and duties of all the institutions and NGOs, who work with children, and also of their organizational, financial and human resources SWOT analysis of the process of actual communication and cooperation between the institutions Training on the topic “Violence over children and children abuse” development and signing /updating/ of the negotiations between the parties of the Coordination Mechanism in the both districts – “Chart for cooperation between the parties” Creation and application of the system for internal monitoring and evaluation of the Coordination Mechanism Printing of a map of the social services for children, victims of violence, in the districts of Targovishte and Veliko Tarnovo Trainings on the topic “Multidisciplinary work” Trainings on the topic “ Inter – organizational work” Trainings for the organizational development / team buildings for the teams of the leading organization and the partner External evaluation and monitoring of the effect of the activities, aiming protection of children from violence  Closing conference Expected results: The responsible parties in all 15 municipalities to have a clear understanding for their own responsibilities which come from the “Coordination Mechanism”; Increased sensitivity in the respective responsible parties on application of the “Coordination Mechanism” in the both districts which will lead to initiation of their own preventive measures on the issues of violence over children; To provide financial, logistics and technical support for the execution of the Coordination mechanism from state and local institutions; The  society and the community of the professionals to be sensitive about the issues for violence against children and sexual abuse with children and to be prepared to report and react.  To be improved the ability of the responsible parties from all the 15 of the municipalities in the both regions to recognize the violence over children, to evaluate the children’s needs and necessities and to react in a proper manner; To be decreased the cases of violence over children as a result from the execution of the preventive measures. To be improved the quality of work, connected with providing of social services for children, victims of violence, in “Association NAIA” and Center “Maria” via improvement of their inner- organizational structures and management processes; To be created a data base for the suppliers of social services for children, victims of violence, in connection with the work on cases which will help the responsible parties on the Coordination Mechanism to achieve a better coordination between each other and to achieve better results.; To develop the respective “starting point” for multidisciplinary teams in order to be able to measure the influence from the work of Coordination Mechanism; To be trained social workers who work on cases and the other professionals, responsible for the work with children in the necessary skills to support children, victims of violence and ill-treatment and also for inter-disciplinary and inter-organizational work. To be held internal monitoring and to be prepared semi-annual reports which give timely information and analysis of the quality, the quantity and influence of the activities of the project on the beneficiaries; To be held external evaluation in the end of each project year, which has to measure the effect of the project activities on improvement of the protection of children.  It is necessary also to be evaluated: the effectiveness, which the activities contribute for the achievement of the goals; the level of preparation of all parties in the both districts to apply the Coordination mechanism; the influence of the Coordination Mechanism.
